Terms of use
These are the rules for using DeutschKatha. By using the website you agree to them. They are written in plain English; please read them.
The service
DeutschKatha (run by DeutschKatha, contact support@deutschkatha.com) offers German stories, audio, quizzes, grammar, everyday conversations and a map of Germany for learners. Part of it is free; Premium opens everything. What is free and what is Premium is shown on the Premium page and may change over time.
Your account
- You can read without an account. To keep Premium on every device, sign in with Google.
- An account is for one person. Do not share it.
- If you are under 18, use DeutschKatha only with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
Premium
- Prices are shown in Indian rupees on the Premium page and include GST.
- When payments start, Premium is a subscription that renews every month or every year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; Premium then stays on until the end of the period you paid for. See the refund and cancellation policy.
- Free Premium days you earn (for example by inviting friends or for a story we publish) are a thank-you from us. We may change or end these offers, but days you have already received stay yours.
- Trying to get Premium content without Premium (for example by changing the website’s code or sharing accounts) is not allowed, and we may close the account.
Our content
The stories, translations, audio, quizzes, grammar pages and pictures on DeutschKatha are made by us or used with permission; some stories are our own retellings of old folk tales and classics. You may use them for your own learning and in your own classes. Please do not copy, download in bulk, republish or sell them, or use them to train AI systems, without our written permission. Pictures and photos by others are credited on the website under their own licences.
Your texts
- Texts you add under “My stories” stay in your browser. You are responsible for having the right to use them.
- If you send a story to our library, you confirm that you wrote it yourself. If we publish it, you allow us to edit, translate, record and publish it on DeutschKatha, with your name if you wish. You keep the right to use your story elsewhere.
Inviting friends
For every new reader who joins with your invite link, signs in with Google and reads on 10 different days, you get 10 days of Premium. Only people new to DeutschKatha count. Inviting yourself, creating extra accounts or buying sign-ups is not allowed; in that case we may remove the rewards. We may change or end the invite programme; Premium days you have already earned stay.
Fair use
Do not misuse DeutschKatha: no attacks on the website or server, no automated downloading, no attempts to read other people’s accounts, and nothing illegal.
Information about Germany
The map, the conversations and the tips (for example about the Bürgeramt, banks, doctors or studying) are general information to help you learn. Rules, fees and deadlines in Germany change. They are not legal or official advice: please check with the official office before you act.
Learning results
We work hard to make the German correct and the levels right, but we cannot promise that you will pass an exam or reach a level in a certain time. The level check is an estimate, not a certificate.
Changes and availability
We keep improving DeutschKatha and may change, add or remove parts of it. We try to keep it online all the time but cannot promise that it will never be down. If we stop a paid service for good, we refund the unused part of your Premium.
Liability
As far as the law allows, DeutschKatha is offered “as it is”, and our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the problem. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under Indian law.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in India decide any dispute.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we change the date below. For a big change, we tell signed-in readers on the website first.
